Organizational Setting

The Digital FAO and Agro-Informatics Division (CSI) is responsible for all Information Technology (IT) activities within the Organization. CSI defines FAO Information Technology (IT) policies, strategy, IT architecture and standards and is responsible for the provision of digital products and services utilized to deliver the mandate of the Organization and support its operations worldwide. CSI manages and supports a set of corporate digital products and services which collectively comprise the FAO Digital Workplace utilized by personnel across the Organization worldwide to access and utilize Organizational digital resources and data in order to perform their work regardless of location or time zone in a secure manner.
The post of Information Technology Office (Digital Solutions) is located in CSI at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

Reporting Lines

The Information Technology Officer (Digital Solutions) reports to the relevant Information Technology Officer and works under the overall guidance of the Deputy Director (CSI).

Technical Focus

Delivery and on-going support and maintenance of on-premises and cloud-based (PaaS and SaaS) digital solutions related to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), ensuring a fit-for-use and fit-for-purpose digital environment in line with defined work plans, confirmed business requirement and agreed-upon service levels.

Key Results

The collection and analysis of IT information and completion of relevant assigned work-packages in support of the delivery of various IT services/activities.

Key Functions

• Collects, reviews for accuracy and analyses IT information to support the delivery of various IT services/activities.
• Participates in the development of improved work methods and procedures.
• Responds to requests for assistance from managers and staff at headquarters and the Decentralized Offices.
• Collaborates in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of training workshops/seminars, etc.
• Participates in special project/work teams.
• Supports corporate initiatives in accordance with the Corporate Environmental Responsibility Strategy to reduce emissions, increase efficiency and integrate sustainability.
• Performs other duties as required.

Specific Functions

• Contributes to the design, build and implementation of ERP functionalities (including customizations and extensions) to meet business requirements using established development standards and a range of related tools and technologies (e.g. OAF, ADF, Apex, OIC, VBCS), across multiple business domains (e.g. financials, human resources, supply chain, travel, projects etc.)
• Resolves escalated incidents as per defined service levels and performs root-cause analysis creating problem records as appropriate.
• Maintains activities to ensure availability, performance and security of digital solutions.
• Performs the necessary technical tests to verify the continuing functioning of corporate environments in the event of technology upgrades by vendors or functionality changes due to new user requirements.
• Analyses existing legacy systems and participates in their migration/modernization to cloud-based corporate environments (PaaS and SaaS).
• Updates configuration items to ensure that the configuration management database is up-to-date reflecting implemented changes.
• Contributes to the gathering and confirmation of user requirements.
• Performs other duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Advanced university degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, software engineering, electric or electronic engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
• Three years of relevant experience in the provision and support of digital solutions utilized by a large-scale user community across numerous geographical locations.
• Working knowledge (full proficiency - level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills

• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
• Extent and relevance of experience in the field of the Corporate Environmental Responsibility is an asset.
• Extent of knowledge and experience in supporting Oracle e-Business Application Suite (version 12.2) covering the areas of financials, human resources, supply chain, travel.
• Extent of knowledge and experience in developing large-scale digital solutions, utilizing at least one of the following\: Oracle eBS (version 12.2), Oracle Cloud (SaaS and PaaS). Industry certifications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is an asset.
• Knowledge and experience in Salesforce and/or Service Now PaaS platform is a plus.
• Extent of knowledge and experience in utilizing ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) operations processes to ensure warranty and utility of digital solutions.
• Knowledge and certification of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is an asset.
• Extent of experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation, including user documentation, service definitions and project documents.
