The Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is implementing the projects Pandemic Fund and “Global Health Security (GHS) Project – Asia and the Pacific Region, Recipient Country\: India” with funding from the World Bank and United States Government USAID. ECTAD in India also implements components of regional projects that are led by the ECTAD Regional office in Bangkok (ECTAD RAP). The World Bank funded and USAID-funded projects aims to strengthen animal health systems through workforce strengthening to reduce the risks and impacts of emerging infectious diseases (EID), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and bio-threats through an inclusive One Health approach. For this project, and for ECTAD’s wider work in its full programme, value chain analysis and policy/procedure to reduce disease risks is a key component that contributes to mitigating One Health problems including threats from new and emerging diseases and AMR.
The position is located in the FAO Project Office in India.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision and guidance of FAO Representative in India, direct supervision of the Assistant FAOR (Programme), in close collaboration with the ECTAD India team and ECTAD Regional Manager in the FAO Regional Office in Bangkok (ECTAD RAP).
Technical Focus
Support to Global Health Security Programme, Pandemic Fund and Fleming Fund specially on the data and knowledge management.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Provide assistance in technical management to the ECTAD-India team activities;
• Assist in preparation of workshop concept notes and proceedings, including technical briefing documents, presentations as required;
• Assist the ECTAD-India team in facilitating workshops and training sessions in India in collaboration with international and national consultants;
• Assist in the analysis and integration of surveillance data on AMR, EID and zoonoses;
• Assist in Research, Writing and Communications;
• Assist in Monitoring and Evaluation of GHSP, and Pandemic Fund projects;
• Coordination and follow up – on behalf of ECTAD India team – with the Government stakeholders (DAHD, NCDC, ICAR and state government departments) and other stakeholders (WHO, UNEP, WOAH and other NGOs) for implementation of Global Health Security Programme (GHSP), Pandemic Fund and Fleming Fund projects as and when advised by ECTAD India Team;
• Carry out other related duties as and when a need arises in the project(s) and as advised by the supervisor;

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, statistics, economics or related fields
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in the field of scientific research, statistics, and knowledge management,
• Working knowledge of English and knowledge of local language is desirable
