Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. The main aim of the FAO Country Offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments in developing policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.


Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Cambodia and under the direct supervision of the Team Leader (Communications), the Graphic Designer will work in close collaboration with relevant units, technical officers, and projects.


Technical Focus

Visual communication, graphic design, publication layout, and branding and visibility materials, in line with FAO corporate standards and clearance processes.


Tasks and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision and guidance of the FAO Representative in Cambodia and the direct guidance of the Team Leader (Communications), the incumbent will design the publication, communication and visibility materials using professional design software. Tasks will include\:

• Design layouts for project publications, factsheets, booklets, leaflets and other communication materials
• Enhance and refine artwork, photographs, charts and visual elements in line with FAO standards
• Develop visibility materials including T-shirts, caps, water bottles and other branded items
• Create clear, functional and reusable templates that effectively convey key messages
• Identify and develop overall layouts appropriate to product type and target audience
• Work in consultation with editors to ensure technical, professional and cultural appropriateness
• Submit design proposals for review and final approval
• Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality production
• Perform three rounds of corrections following OCC/PWS and divisional quality checks; rounds of corrections are to be increased should the incumbent overlook corrections

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING


Minimum Requirements

• University degree in Communications or Graphic Design, or a professional certificate or diploma in Graphic Design
• 3 years of relevant experience in graphic design or related field
• Working knowledge of English (level C) and fluency in Khmer

• Experience coordinating with editors, printers and external vendors
• Knowledge of FAO or United Nations communication standards is an asset

• Quality, creativity and relevance of the submitted graphic design portfolio
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in professional design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines
• Experience working in multicultural, international or development contexts, preferably within UN, government or development partner environments
